Charlotte Annulment Attorneys

Sometimes it becomes apparent that marital ties should never have been established in the first place. An adoption of a child may have made one party temporarily consider marriage, or only after marriage did it become apparent that the marriage occurred only for financial reasons.

Unlike a divorce, an annulment will completely eradicate the marriage, as if the whole event never happened. Should you feel that your circumstances warrant such an action, you may be able to file an action for an annulment rather than divorce. Indeed, the state of North Carolina recognizes annulments. That being said, the requirements and process for a Charlotte annulment are very different from a Charlotte divorce. For this reason, you will need a skilled and seasoned Charlotte attorney with experience in family law to help you navigate the annulment process in the Queen City.

At Rech Law, we’re passionate about helping families. We understand how important your case is to you and will do everything in our power to make it successful.

Find out more about how we can help you with the annulment process by scheduling a consultation. Contact us online or call (704) 659-0007 for yours today.

What Is the Annulment Process in North Carolina?

In order to gain an annulment of a marriage in North Carolina, certain grounds must exist, in that the marriage is invalid under the law. If so, an annulment will be recognized. However, the time with which a party has to file for an annulment is very short, typically 2 years of the time either the grounds for annulment are discovered or either party enters into a new marriage.

This makes having experienced Charlotte annulment attorneys at Rech Law by your side all the more crucial. You may, however, have recourse under alternate avenues, including domestic violence. You can, nevertheless, benefit from the involved expertise of a North Carolina family attorney to prove your case.

How Could an Annulment Benefit Me?

Obtaining an annulment can provide substantial benefits to your future. An annulment does not permit middleground decisions (equitable distribution, spousal support, etc) to be made, as by design the entire marriage is invalid. This can save you the time and strain associated with divvying up marital property and assets as required in the typical divorce process. Furthermore, an annulment removes the 1-year separation period that North Carolina uses as a prerequisite for a case based on alienation of affection or criminal conversation, should you wish to seek future reparations under a separate lawsuit.

Making such crucial decisions necessitates the involvement of our seasoned Charlotte annulments attorneys at Rech Law. You can’t afford to go through this without us by your side.
